I’ve been working on a Star Trek fanfiction story called The Hidden Empire.
Set after the events of Star Trek: Picard Season 3, the story follows the crew of the USS Carl von Linné, a modernized Galaxy-class starship sent to investigate an unusual disturbance near the Hekaras Corridor.
What begins as a scientific mission soon develops into something far more dangerous — and far stranger. The crew encounters a mystery that challenges their understanding of subspace, humanity, and the kind of civilization the Federation might have become under very different circumstances.
I’ve tried to keep the story firmly rooted in Star Trek: exploration first, diplomacy whenever possible, science as a tool rather than technobabble for its own sake, and a crew that tries to understand before it opens fire.
The Hidden Empire consists of ten chapters and can be read online chapter by chapter. An EPUB version is also available for anyone who prefers to read it as an e-book.
And if parts of the story begin to feel oddly familiar for reasons that have nothing to do with Star Trek… well, that may not be entirely accidental.
